Summer Stories of the Big 4, Part 1

Summer Stories of the Big 4, Part 1

This Summer has been quite busy in England. Manchester united probably top of the league in that aspect, not that it matters anyway. Just take a look at the last season. The team still has to gel, and from what we have come to learn from the red devils, this usually takes some time.

Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Scnhneiderlin cost United a combined total of £39.4 million. Not a bad deal right?

Man U has already signed a total of four players including Wilfred Zaha whose loan deal to Crystal Palace expired, though he is likely to go back. They signed Schweinsteiger, Schneirderlin, Depay and Damien, really big names if you ask me. All are really good deals, but their back four really looked suspicious the previous season, and still does. If LVG’s words are anything to go by, Antonio Valencia will start ahead of Darmian next season, that’s surprising because  I didn’t know Valencia was that good a right back, to be picked over Darmian. Also United might need a quality center back at least, though LVG plans to convert Daley Blind to one, but is that sort of defense going to win you the EPL? i don’t think so. Only one team in the last fifteen seasons Manchester’s 2012/2013 team has ever won the EPL without having the best or second best defense. Marcos Rojo appears the most dependable of the bunch, to me. Taking a look at United’s attack, with the sale of Robin Van persie, the center forward position looks quite open, or else they are actually serious about deploying Rooney as a center forward, in a front three including Dimaria if he stays, or Pedro if he joins. We’ll see how that works out, because I’m not really a big fan of the current Wayne Rooney.

From Manchester we go to London to see how our league champions the Blues are faring. They’ve not been that busy, but have managed to pull of a stunner with the signing of Radamel Falcao on a loan deal. They’ve also signed Begovic to replace the space left by my man Cech. They also signed young and promising 19 year old attacking midfielder Nathan. Personally looking at this Chelsea team, and looking at the market, there is not much you can do to improve the current team. Only in Barca or Madrid will you find an obvious upgrade in talent not in chelsea already. That is if you’re looking for an upgrade in already available talent, but you wouldn’t want to interrupt the flow and harmony in the team. Though Chelsea do need to replace Felipe Luis if he does leave. What Chelsea need to do is try to get the best out of Eden Hazard, maybe get him to work on improving his numbers, and take his game to the next level. If he does that, Chelsea can maybe challenge for the next champions league. With that said, the champions do look like favorites for next season’s premier league if you ask me.
