Anatomy of a Shirt

Nine details, every one on purpose — a guided tour of the Five Aside jersey, from the floodlight gold to the coordinates on the sleeve.

The yellow

Start with the gold. It's not a mustard, and it's not a lemon. It's the yellow of a floodlight, a taxi, a warning sign, a trophy catching sun. Yellow is the color of "pay attention," which is the whole job of a football opinion. It's also the only color on the shirt doing any shouting. Everything else is black, so when the yellow shows up, it means something. Think of it as the take that lands in the middle of a quiet room.

The black

Black is the room. It's the group chat at 11pm after a match, the street before the pub opens, the screen before the stream starts. It gives everything else somewhere to live. Without the dark, the yellow is just a color. With it, the yellow is a statement.

The pinstripes

Thin white lines running top to bottom, like the lines on a team sheet. Dozens of them, all heading the same way, none exactly alike. That's a debate. Everybody's chasing the same love of the game, and nobody's taking the same road to get there. And if you're from Atlanta, you already know stripes mean something in this city.

The collar

This is the part that makes it a Five Aside shirt and not a gym top. The folded polo collar is old school, a throwback to when kits had a neck you could pop and a manager you could argue with. We trimmed it black, yellow and white, so the whole palette sits right under your chin like a flag. Look closely at the piping that runs from the collar down the shoulder and the side seams. It's the same idea as a good pundit: the thin line that connects everything.

The jacquard

Here's the sneaky one. Under the pinstripes there's a pattern woven into the fabric itself, black on black. In a flat photo you can barely see it. Move, or catch the light, and it surfaces. That's ball knowledge. The surface take is the one everybody has. The real stuff is in the weave, and you only see it if you look properly. It's also a nod to the show itself: five voices overlapping, interrupting, piling on top of each other until it stops being noise and becomes texture. Chaos with a design behind it.

The globe

Left sleeve. A small gold globe, easy to miss, hard to unsee once you do. Because the game was never local. A kid in Lagos and a kid in Atlanta are watching the same match and arguing about the same referee. Football is the one language where nobody needs a translator. The globe is a reminder that this started in a city but doesn't stay in one.

The coordinates

33.7490° N, 84.3880° W. That's Atlanta, written the way a map would write it. Not a slogan, not a hashtag, just a location, plain and exact. We put the address on the sleeve because the biggest flex in football is knowing where you're from. Every club on earth is a place first. Ours is a city that doesn't get enough credit for how deep it loves this game. The hem tag says the rest: Core Collection. Est. 2026. Designed in Atlanta.

The 5A

And then the front. The five, with a ball sitting right in its curve, leaning into the A. Five voices, one game, one city. It's a monogram, but if you stare long enough it's also a pitch, a crest, and a punchline. That's the point. A good badge should make you feel like you already belong to something.

So what is it, really?

It's a shirt for people who care too much. For the ones who stayed up for the late kickoff, who have a strong opinion about a left back, who'd rather lose an argument than skip one. We built it so that when you walk in wearing it, someone nods. That's the whole product.

That's Ball Knowledge. Wear it, argue in it, and let the weave do the talking.
